I was working on pattern #26640 and I always have issues when starting alphas. I started making the heart but it looks super wonky, and the bracelet also has a weird indentation on the side. I think I'm doing something wrong with how I hold the strings but I don't know what. I've watched MashaKnots' alpha video but I'm still having issues. Can anyone help? Hi there! Lets see if I can help, I've not done many alphas but I think I've learnt a few things through trial and error. -make sure youre using the same thickness or variety of string for all your colours, I totally made that mistake on my first one and it came out so wonky I scrapped the whole thing -maybe done try a triangle start and finish to your first alpha? it can be easy to ruin the straighness of the horizontal lines (again, I totally did the same, in fact the little geisha one on my profile rn has tiny holes in my triangle end ๐ค) - try to tie the knots with even tautness, aka dont pull super tight on some and loose on others -try and push knots up the base strings so you cant see the base strings, it should also help keep things straight if your first line started off okay honestly other than that I would just keep at it, it comes with a bit of trial and error to keep things even, so be patient and dont let the strings defeat you!! ps. you could always start with a simpler design to get a bit familiar with how alphas work! |
