Hey y’all so I am going to try and make a watch band for a friend and I have no idea how I’m going to do it. We bought the “watch band expanders” and I figured out how to put it together, but to anyone who’s made a watch band- how did you go about it? I’ve made some bracelets with paracord buckles before and I’d assume you’d do it the same way? Tbh I’m just a little worried about how it’ll turn out.

Use larks head knots to attach strings to the watch straps and create two halves of your watch bracelet. The two halves would be connected by the watch and you could do whatever ties you want and if necessary you can make it adjustable or tie a knot between the two ties

I would do it the same way you did it for the buckles. (That is if I have the correct thing in mind thinking of the watch band expanders)Here is a forum threads by someone else also wanting to do a watch https://www.braceletbook.com/forum/5_hints/7909_watch-strapband-tips/ |

@MrsOtter2, I recently made an Apple Watch band with pattern #15234 (you can check my profile for reference). If you're doing an alpha, as others said, you can just do larks head knots with your base strings onto the band adapter, and then knot from there. Normals would be a bit more complex, depending on what your pattern is, it would be more difficult to get your strings in the right order (I haven't experimented with that yet). As for tying, I just did twisted ties at the end of mine so I could knot it together on my wrist, but I feel an adjustable closure wold work just as well. I initially made the band with crimp ends on it, but the watch itself is too heavy for the lobster clasp and little metal rings on the crimp ends, so they kept coming apart unfortunately. I stopped wearing it like that because I didn't want to lose my watch. I find the twisted ties work much better. Hope this helps! |

@rjmd17 what kind of watch adapter did you use? I tried using the one that clicks into place but it was catching the strings on the little groove too much. I don’t know if that makes sense or not

@MrsOtter2, I don't really know how to explain it, but here's the link to the ones I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001165861178.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.21ef18023n9AThIs there any way to put the adapter together and then attach the strings? |

@rjmd17 unfortunately with the kind I got the bar has a ridge in it so you can use the tool it came with to take it off and switch the band

OoohI I made an Apple Watch band using pattern #87161 - I actually realized when seeing this post that I never remembered to submit my photo of it to the site, so I just did. Hopefully it will be accepted relatively soon. In any case, others on here mentioned some really good suggestions, which are also what I would recommend. I used larks head knots to attach my threads to the band adapter and treated it like a keychain. For the endings, initially I had really wanted to do an adjustable end, but my ties really just ended up being a little too thick so I just used fishtail braids on both ends and tie them together. It stays really secure when I wear it because I tie it pretty tight. That being said, I do want to make another attempt maybe with fewer strings and try making an adjustable end.
