I like to use beginning loops for my alphas but how would I start a beginning loop if the pattern has an odd number of strings

MashaKnots has a video on making a loop with an uneven amount of strings that might help.

I usually cut the 1 string that doesn't have a pair a bit long, then use a slip knot at one end to tie it around the other strings. Then I use that string to make the loop. I fold the extra tail under the knots that make the loop.I've also done the usual larks head technique and just tucked one end of the unpaired string under the knots. It's a little less secure, but once you have a row or two done it'll be held in place. |
