gaps in straight-edges alphas

everytime i use the straight edges technique in alphas, i get gaps on the sides and you can see the basestrings on the left and right. if anyone else struggled with this, how did you fix it??

Are you doing two bf knots on the left and two fb knots on the right? You need to do two because you replace both the first and the last knot of each row. If you do only one fb or bf knot, you'd only have a half knot at the beginning and end of each row.
