I have found that if you make you knots looser it helps and the more you make a pattern the faster you will get and segment knoting helps me at least

for normals segment knotting is quicker once you know how to do it. And for alphas if you listen to something or watch a movie or do something to make the time pass i find i go faster

I add another piece of tape closer to the where I’m working so it doesn’t swing around as much

For alphas spreading all the strings out before hand helps. I also like to switch hands depending on what direction I’m going, but that one has a bit of a learning curve.
