Short base strings

What do you do when your base strings get too short..?

I tape a replacement to the back and move the short base string back and sorta wrap it under it so it "locks" it into place. Then after a few rows I take the tape off, make a small knot on with the old and new base string on the back side of the bracelet for extra security and then clip the old string all the way short.

Oh, I should clarify that last bit: I make the knot with the tail of the new string that is sticking out the back, not the "working" part of the string.
