Hey hey! So when I make wallhangings, they start to go slightly narrow as I continue to work on it. I’ve done some research to improve but it’s still doing it. My knot tension is the same throughout and I am using a ruler to make sure rows are even. I’ve even spaced out the base strings on the dowel and take it easy making them. I’m wondering though if the knots on the first few row are wider because it’s closer to the dowel and I gotta tie those rows tighter first?? Any other suggestions??

You could ckeck if you maybe pulled the loose strings in the back too tight and that is making the wall hanging thinner. You could fix this by carefully cutting these strings. If the issue is indeed the first row, you could try, if you can push the knots of the first row closer together now. |

Hi! I recommend knotting a couple rows, say around 5-10 ish, then seeing how the rows look. Are they starting to grow wider or becoming more narrow? If they are, try pushing the base strings closer together from the dowel, I would say that this also plays a major part of causing the wall hanging to become more narrow even when it isn’t! Another way to help with is paying attention to each row, did this one seem a little tighter than the last one? Is it two loose? A lot of the process when making larger alphas is through trial and error and seeing what works! Hope this helps! 💕
