My forward knots are so crisp and perfect and I have come a very long way. My backwards knots on the other hand… it looks like it’s been ran over. I don’t get how my backwards knots can come out so bumpy and not straight at all. If you have any tips I would LOVE to hear them.

It is common that you are not as good making one knot type as making another. What can help is practicing making that knot type by knotting a pattern where this knot type repeats often and to also pay attention to how you make the knot while knotting it. Do you pull each half of the knot as tight as you pull other knots?

I’m not sure if this helps but making sure that when your tying the knot the string your tying with is on the side it should be on. so with the backwards knot it always should be in the right side of the string that your tying onto??? I’m not sure if that helps.. But like Halokiwi said practice is good 😊

It could have to do with if you are knotting with only one hand. I would try knotting your backward knots with your opposite hand.

🤪 Im having this problem too. I have a theory that so far it seems to track: the knot wants to finish on the left of the thread you're tying on to, so I pull it tight from the left side of the thread instead of the right. Also yes, candy stripe with all backwards knots is helping me too.

You most likely started making bracelets with only forward knots I recommend making candy stripes with backward knots instead of forward that way you can practice your backward. But DO NOT only make to candy stripes you might decrease your forward knots. try to do a mix of both. Best of Luck Paws Knot |

I recommend making chevron patterns. It is simple but uses forward and backward knots.

this could be that you are right-handed like 90% of the world. consider how tight you are pulling the string when knotting compared to the tightness when doing a forward knot. this should help
