I want to make a chapstick holder, someone in the chat suggested to me to make a big "bracelet" with loops and sew it but I have several questions. One: how do I sew it together Two: how many strings does it have to be in width Three: how do I end it Four: how many loops do I do (is there any other ways to start it/how do I connect so many loops together on one "bracelet". If it helps to answer my questions I want to make it for my burts bee lip balm. Any advice would be appreciated.

bracelets.n.books on Instagram (@guardling1 on here, but I don't think she posted that picture on here as well) has made a chapstick holder that I think turned out really nice 🙂 I think looking at her picture to try to do something similar might be useful.

She made a big normal bracelet but as a tube so there was no sewing necessary. She just tied the left and right edge together to make a tube.

She quadrupled the pattern #25577 which would be 64 strings.

She did two loops with one triangle end each but those triangle ends weren't on opposite sides but closer together. These two loops she attached to a D swivel keyring to be able to attach the chapstick holder to something. I think 2 loops probably works the best because you can attach it in a stable way but it is not closed of too much so you have easy accesibility.

I'm not sure how exacly she ended it but it seems like she just tied something around the bottom and left the ends of the strings as a tassel. I think you could also do a knot with all strings to tie it off. What I can also imagine is starting the knotting from the bottom similar to how you'd do a mandala flower so it is closed off. You just have to find a different way to make loops then. Empatheo has a video on an eye shaped loop that could work.

I just looked if there is anything on YouTube about friendship bracelet chapstick holders and there is one video by akaawol.

My general recommendation would be to try to find pictures of how others did it and then take inspiration from that and figure out the way that works for you and that you like best 😄 I'm sure you'll be able to do it 👍

Yes!! I made a chapstick holder, I'll be sure to upload a photo asap so that you can see it on here as well as on instagram! If you have an instagram account, you can dm me and I'll put you on my close friends list and from there I have a highlight with the general process of how I made my chapstick holder. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have, and good luck with your new project! 🙂

I’ve made chapstick holders in the past and the best patterns to use should have 30-32 strings. I too use burts bees and the 32 string patterns are a bit big so I would suggest 26-30 string patterns. If you plan on sewing it together, you don’t really need loops on the side.

I found this post that someone linked in another forum page. Since asking this question I have made one Chapstick holder recently and intend on making more. I had to use a 64 string pattern and I started/the Pattern with triangle ends (each one had a loop on top and on the bottom I tied a string to connect all 4 triangles. I did not see the edges together instead I knotted in a circle. Knotting in a circle means that on the left and right of every odd row here is a loose string the two loose strings get knotted together and I knot the Chapstick holder like a normal bracelet otherwise. Also the people that did respond earlier when I originally asked this definitely helped seeing examples guided me as I figured out what it was I wanted to make.
