How to know which colour to use when doing a colour change?

Sometimes in patterns there are multiple colour changes in a row. If i use the flat alpha technique you would put a string through and do a knot on top of the base string and the string you put through but how do i know which colour i put through?

@lucass_ for pattern #93376 in row 4 do i colour switch with black when using yellow or do i still use pink?

I know you weren’t asking me, but for the yellow knot, you would make the second half over the black string. The pink string should be pulled behind the bracelet at that point.

it’s the same technique. for the knot, you put the last leading string (if ur switching colors) in the knot. there’s not rly a reason why u would have two leading strings
