Hello! So yesterday I finished a bracelet and made it adjustable. (Using about 5 square knots) I even coated the knot with clear nail polish and today it already started to come apart. The only reason I am worried is because I want to give it to my cousin and she wouldn't know how to fix it. Any tips to make it last longer? Thanks.

Is it possible you tied the square knots too loosely, or cut the excess string too close to the knots? Or did you accidentally do 2.5 square knots instead of 5?

@madeline_ yeah, that might be it. I already gave it to her, but if it comes apart I let her know that she can still tie the two ends together, so it should be fine. Thanks!

i think there’s a way to do it by making two knots between the actual bracelet and the ties and then feeding the ends of the ties thru those knots.

also some clear nail polish doesnt work as well as others, i made an adjustable strap for my friend and no matter how much nail polish of one brand i put on it it wouldnt stay, i grabbed a different brand and it only took 1 coat and was solid. maybe try testing a different nail polish to see if that helps?
