i just wanna make sure that i done the math right and if it actually works the way i think it does.

okay so if ur makin a normal/alpha bracelet where you make a normal and then normal strings as the base strings when goin into ur alpha, would you double the base strings? cuz 2 string in a normal makes 1 knot, but 2 strings in an alpha make 2. so TECHNICALLY you would wanna do an alpha that’s half the dimensions of a normal right.....

it makes sense in my head but i wanna know from people who actually tries this. sank u very much

no, you would still only knot over one string per base string in your alpha. starting by knotting like a normal pattern spaces out the strings pretty well to start an alpha, there is no need to knot over double strings. @clairehair has a tutorial here on braceletbook for normal alpha starts, its called "Shaped Starts and Ends for Odd-Stringed Alphas".

@srhamy28 the tutorial i’m looking at is just for triangle start/ends..... is it the same principle? i’m talkin about like makin a chevron for a while and then put an alpha in the middle and then normal for the end.

you would have to just knot your normal and stop at a row when you want to strt your alpha. the point is, you don't have to double your base strings.
