I would suggest trying to make your knots a little looser and pushing up your knots after each row with a ruler or some other kind of straight edge. If it’s hard for you to push up your rows, that probably means your knots are too tight

Additionally you could try thicker base strings or maybe even double base strings (making one knot around two base strings).

My alphas are usually less stretched if I pull the leading string upwards rather than sideways when I’m making knots

Thicker base strings could help with that (as someone said earlier), size 3 crochet thread is a good size to use as base strings.

As @oceanknot mentioned, pushing your rows up can be really helpful with stretched alphas. Also, as others have mentioned, watching your knot tension and finding your 'sweet spot' can really help. 😊

in short, if the alpha is getting stretched long ways (up and down while tieing) then the knots are to lose and if it's getting stretched side ways (left to right) then the knots are to tight, as fas as I've seen this is more common. alpha knots have to be a lot loser than normal ones. most of the time, the problem is that the base strings are not placed to far apart, rather than the rows being to "big" a good way to get a handle on it is to start out with base strings separated (on a tooth pick or left free) so that they're easier to stretch as you tie. a good way to practice the right knot tension is to do medium sized (30-60 strings) that are square so it's easy to see how much things are getting altered. hope this helps! ❤️

All alphas are going to look stretched because the knots are elongated in all bracelets. There is no way of avoiding this fate, sadly 🙁
