The twist has to twist together naturally. For that you have to twist both halves individually in the same direction and then twist them together in the opposite direction. If they don't hold together and stay twisted that means that you haven't twisted the individual halves tight enough.I always do it in small parts. I hold both halves close to the where the twisted ties begin. Then I twist both halves several times and make a half-twist with both halves by folding one over the other. I continue like this until I have reached the desired length.. I once saw someone make twisted ties in a video and they only twisted the two halves together. You will also get a slight twist like that because the two halves naturally slightly twist when you twist them together but that slight twist is not enough. You have to twist both of them. When you twist them together you should be able to let them go and they should not come undone. |

I twist the right side of the strings first, and then the left side. You have to make sure to twist both sides of the string one way, and when you have to twist them together, twist them in the opposite way.
