heyI am right handed and i make forward knots with ease but i find backward knots really hard to do because i can't switch hands while tying if you know what i mean. Am i the only one? Do you have any tips? xx |

I always hold the strings I make knots with in my right hand and the strings I knot onto with my left hand no matter which knots I do

Just keep practicing and eventually all the kinds of knots will come with ease.

Try making a bracelet with a ton of backwards knots - it won't be very fun at first, but it'll give you the practice you need to improve your backwards knots. Like, do a candystripe with all backwards knots. If you want to learn how to tie knots with both hands (not just your dominant hand) you have to practice. Go as slow as you need, and then you'll eventually build up muscle memory.

I hold the string I'm knotting onto with my right hand and hold the active string with my left. When I need to do a forward knot, I'll switch my hands so that my left hand is holding the string I'm knotting onto and my right hand is holding the active string. If I get into a rhythm it goes by pretty fast.Paying close attention to my knot tension is also important! You can loosen or tighten your knots as you go, or stretch the bracelet as necessary, so all your knots look good. |

@_juliette_ backwards knots were really difficult for me too, but I practiced doing the braided stitch bracelet and now it's gotten soo much easier for me, I highly suggest doing that bracelet a few times. 😄 😇

the pattern for a braided stitch is #117 but the braided stitch pattern is easier to segment knot in my opinion. kinsey b made a tutorial on it where she shows how to segment knot the pattern so here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZgp8_8-voQ

@_juliette_ it’s pattern #117 Kinsey B made a great video on how to do it, I personally think it’s easier to learn from somebody than just to follow a pattern, I really recommend looking it up! 😁
