So one of my base strings broke as I was making my alpha and it’s too short to retie!(I knew I should have gone with thicker string😅)Does anyone has any suggestions on what to do so that I don’t have to start over?

you can just stick a replacement string behind it like you would replace a string in a normal pattern, and then continue

You could tape your new base strings down to a surface and knot onto them like regular

tape down a new string behind it and just knot onto it like normal the back wont be as neat but its better than starting all over again

Yes, you can put in a replacement string. Masha knots has a tutorial called fixing mistakes.
