I’m not sure if this is going to make any sense but here I goPattern I’m referring to is #48851 In most of the pictures posted for that pattern I see the creators make their base strings color set as part of their pattern instead of knotting over the base string, I want to know how that’s done without making the colored string a leading string? Hope that makes sense 😅 |

Yes, but the way it’s knotted is not the normal way of knotting, because it looks like every time they got to colored string, they didn’t make the colored string a leading string as that colored string knot would then make the base string black but all base strings remained colored.

okay, ngl i’ve never tried this before. but what thinking is that you set up the base strings with the rainbow gradient and then start making it like a normal alpha, but then when you get to the gradient colors, you use the base string and knot in the leading string and you do that until you get to the part where you use the black string and then knot on the base string until you need to start the gradient. that’s what i’m thinking from reading the comments..... i’ve never actually tried to this, so there’s prob someone who can explain it better and actually done it. you could try tagging them in this forum post and see if they respond and what they say

I’ve tried this technique before with a lot less colors and strings, but you’re basically knotting with your base strings instead of adding new leading strings. If you want a more visual demonstration, Kinsey b has a name bracelet tutorial using this technique, but if you were to do it, you would need more colors and strings than she used. https://youtu.be/N2xlji7d5Lk
