when I make keychains, I don't want to ruin the metal by putting it in my clipboard, though it is slippy too. I've tried tape and it moved a little, if nothing else I'll try to cope with tape, but does anyone have any top tips on holding down d-ring keychains while making patterns on them?

I find tape really annoying to work with, so I put the d-ring under the clipboard and it stays pretty secure. I’ve never had any issues with it ruining the metal, so I think you should be fine

Oh I just read the part where you said it’s “slippy” so I would suggest using a stronger tape, like duct tape to tape down your d-ring

I put a string through the d-ring and tape the string to the table and then tape on the actual d-ring so it doesnt move. That way it usually doesnt slip as much when you pull to make the knots bc the string is less slippery than the metal of the ring. Hope that makes sense (:

i like to use regular scotch tape but instead of putting the keychain on the clip of my clipboard i put it on the actual board part and tape it there. once the keychain is long enough i will move the tape on to the actual keychain and then it doesn't move.
