I’ve been having this problem with alphas for a while that when I make them the alpha looks longer or stretched and the actual pattern looks smaller. I’ve seen that some people make their alphas look exactly like the pattern but I’m not sure how to do that. Does anyone have this problem and is there a way to fix this?

I think the issue is your knot tension, so you might have to work on that for your alphas to turn out like the pattern. I would say to knot tighter, so that your pattern isn’t stretched out, but make sure that you’re not knotting too tight either or else that might be another issue.

Another thing you could try is using a ruler to tighten your knots after you finish each row.

Some suggest knotting looser but it doesn't work for me. 🙁 Using thicker base strings, such as crochet thread size 3, may help a bit, though!
