Recently I've been having trouble with my embroidery floss splitting into its seprerate strands whilst i'm making a bracelet, It can be very annoying as it makes my knots quite a bit messier. I've noticed that this happens particularly when i am trying to undo knots with a safety pin as I can accidentaly pull at a knot whilst the safety pin has actually only caught half of the embroidery floss, causing it to split. I hope that makes sense and if anyone had any advice, I would be very gratefull! ❤️

I would suggest buying a different brand of embroidery floss if this becomes a major issue. I have DMC, Loops and Threads, and Prism and I’ve never had an issue with any of them yet. A tip for undoing knots though would be to turn your bracelet over and use your nail to push down the knot, then try to get it off the string with your finger. I undo my knots a lot, but I’ve almost never used a safety pin to do it.

Im not sure switching brands would help. i have had the same issues with spitting when using DMC and Prism. I also use a saftey pin and I beleive it is an issue. Maybe trry using a paper clip? Or maybe just be super careful when using a safety pin.

@oceanknot @bunny13 thanks for the advice 😄. I have alot embroidery floss that I want to use up at the moment so I won't be buying from new brands any time soon but when I do eventually want to buy more the brand will be something for me to keep in mind 🙂 . I think I'll try the way you suggested oceanknot and I'll also try just generally being more carefull with the safety pin. Thank you so much for your advice, hopefully it works 👍 ❤️!

I had this issue with metallic string so I put tape 6 inches down and slid the tape down as I ran out.I don’t know if that makes sense |

No problem! You could also try something like what crafter83 was talking about like tying a knot at the very end of your string so that it doesn’t split

I think the putting knots/tape at the end of my strings sounds like a good idea! Again, thanks for all the help everyone! 😄 ❤️ 👍

Sparkly thread normally does this. Maybe get craft cord or tie a knot on the end of the string to keep it from completely separating. Hope this helps! ❤️
