Alphas - other colours peaking through and looking untidy

Hii I’m pretty new to alphas. I’m currently doing part of #57838 as a keychain. And I’m having some difficulty with the straw and the beginning of the cup where colours are being changed fairly regularly and almost after one knot where the colours are peaking through as I continue the row. I’m doing the flat alpha and straight edge technique and I’m pulling on those strings I see peaking out to try and tighten them but it’s not helping much.Also my knots for the background colour are coming out pretty nice and straight but my pink knots for the straw are angled left and right. Is there any way to fix that after finishing those rows? |

The only thing I could think of that could help you would be to use a ruler or some other straight edge to push up after every row. You can also try to use your nail to adjust the knot after you’ve made it. This is a pretty common issue and even though I’m not super new to alphas, this still happens to me as well. It might have something to do with knot tension, so it may just be a thing that can fix itself over time and practice

For the colors peeking through, you can try pulling on the string (the one that’s peeking through) in the direction of the knot and slightly downwards. Be careful when you pull downwards because it will loosen the knot a little, but in my experience it helps A LOT with colors peeking through from the flat alpha technique

Loosening up your knots is key to neater alphas. Like @oceanknot mentioned, you can also push your rows up with a ruler, or your fingernail. I hope this helps! 😄
