I assume you are knotting row by row, right?You put the strings in the order aabbccddeeff. In the first row you make f knots between all strings of the same colour. The first row can be a bit tricky in any normal pattern if you start in a straight line with no shaped start. I recommend taping the strings down next to each other. I advise against making a knot with all the strings at once and clipping it down because the strings will be bunched up which will make it difficult to start smoothly. |

If you want to segment knot which is what I assume you usually do since the candystripe and the chevron are typical segment knot patterns I could write down for you how to segment knot it.
