Does it really matter if base strings are thicker then the actual thread your using? Mines is around 3x bigger then my embroidery thread.

A lot of people actually prefer using thicker thread for their base strings, as it's more stable! I'm not sure exactly how big your base strings are, they shouldn't be too much bigger though. Many people use size 3 crochet thread for base strings, which is thicker (and cheaper) than embroidery thread 😊

I think that you should keep them all the same size, normally, your string will run out a lot faster and its okay to use different brands of string, as long as they are around the same size. I wouldn't recommend using different sized base strings though. 🙂
