To make a triangle end row-by-row in the first row you have to make one knot, in the second 2, in the third 3 and so on.

For a pattern with an even amount of strings you have to start in a row with an uneven amount of knots. If the number of strings is dividable by 4 you have to start in even rows. If it isn't dividable by 4 you have to start in uneven rows.

For a pattern with 20 strings you have to start in an even row on knot 5, in the next row you do knot 4 and 5, in the next row you do 4, 5 and 6, in the next row you do 3,4,5 and 6 and so on.

If the pattern has an uneven amount of strings you can go for a slightly of center triangle. In a bracelet with an uneven amount of strings it does not matter in which row you start.
