How to have your bracelets straight at the edges?

So i figured out that i had been doing the straight edges technique wrong and started doing 2 bf/fb knots instead of one, and my rows have been a lot straighter, but the edges arent. for example. if im making a lot of rows with the background and didn't color switch on the ends that much it would be straight, but then when i get to the middle and i need to do a few colors, it will be bumpy at the edges. How do i fix this? i am going to try doing all the same brand of string on my next keychain or tie my knots looser with the thinner string and see if it helps, but please tell me if you have other tips! thanks!

Im going to try to help as best as i can:Your alphas are honestly perfectly fine thats how they are supposed to be. For me, its never gonna get perfectly straight, but i may have a tip that could help. But first, you should know that your edges on your alphas (take #50268 and #48004) are probably the straightest they could get. The reason that on #50268 your edges go slightly in is because they are a lot of colour switches in that row or many rows, which can cause the bracelet to curve in and be thinner in some spots. Now for my tip, to try to keep you edges as straight as possible (not the curving or thinner part, idk how to help that) is that when you do your fb and bf knots, pull the string that you are knotting with more to the opposite side. For example, if i was doing a bf knot on the left side of my alpha, i would pull the string towards the right. This makes the edge knot turn slightly so that it is not the actual knot the is facing the front, but the side of the knot. I hope this makes sense. If it doesnt, i can change my pfp to a picture guide that can explain slightly better |

@PotatoPeel ya could you change your pfp to a picture guide? It doesn’t have to be rn since it’s super late

So i use my nail to move to edge knots to the side, because the side of the knot is a lot smoother. (Example in pfp) So by turning the knot slightly (in this example) the the right, it makes the smoother side on the left rather than the actual knot

I think your colour switches might be why the bracelet gets wider which leads to the edge not being straight. I recommend that after you made a colour switch you pull the old leading string tight so the gap between the knots is a small as possible. |
