can you use crochet thread for an alpha base string and then embroidery thread for the leading string? my crochet thread is about the same thickness as 2 strands of embroidery thread, does this effect the knots or the way it works?

I have personally never tried this before but I think it might work. It might change the thickness of the pattern it’s self but as long as all the base strings are the crochet thread it should work

I use size 3 crotchet thread for base strings and I knot with embroidery floss, but it doesn’t affect the knots. The only difference is that the bracelet is slightly thicker than a bracelet using embroidery floss for base strings because crotchet is thicker, but there isn’t that much of a difference. I honestly prefer crotchet thread for base strings because it makes my alphas sturdier and neater

Hi! it shouldn't really affect the knots. It may make them bigger, and it also depends on how tight you pull your knots. 🙂 Crochet thread makes really good base strands!
