I have a problem, when I tell people I make friendship bracelets, they always ask "how" and "why" I do it. Now, I can easily answer the "why" but I can never seem to make people comprehend the way I make friendship bracelets. Sometimes I'll tell them that it's just repetitive knots that will create a pattern. I also add that there are two different ways to make them (alpha and normal). So, the people will just nod and try to understand, but they still can't get their heads around it. I don't always have a bracelet on so I can't have show them the result of me tying a bracelet. Does anyone have some suggestions on how I can describe bracelet tying in a easy way to understand? Thanks in advance. |

So for Alpha bracelets I tell people something like this: "So there are background strings, and there's one main string that makes knots back and forth across the background strings. There's also a method for switching colors."

And for normals I tell people something like this: "You have a bunch of strings that make knots on each other (and then use hand motions or a picture of a normal pattern as an added visual)."
