Someone gave me several metallic threads so I started using one of them in pattern 28565. They are starting to completely separate and are being a real pain. If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it.

knot the ends of the string to keep it from coming undone

What I tend to do when using those threads is to tie a small knot at the end of the string. That way it doesn't fray and come apart as much. It can still be quite of a pain to work with though, but doing that makes it more workable. 🙂

@2006_Mandy That’s a good idea. Mine is starting to unravel at the top like where you have to know it if that makes sense. So I don’t know what to do with that

ohhh metallic thread... my enemy lol. Not only are they annoying, but ITCHY! The thread scratches your hand when you knot. So when you are knotting with metallic thread, put some gloves on and tie a tiny knot at the bottom of each string. Good luck! 😊

Hello! I would tie a tiny knot at the end of each metallic string, so it does not start to fray and become an issue. I would also be more careful while knotting with them, because they are a lot sharper than regular embroidery floss, and can start to cut the embroidery floss, making it full of tiny balls of cotton or polyester. It can get pretty messy, but if you are aware of those issues, it can really help. 🙂 I hope this helps. Happy knotting!

*putting one strand with a regular string to make sparky string since it’s rare where I live

@Droskend That is such a good idea, I’ll have to try that in the future when I use metallic threads. Thanks for the advice 🙂
