Base stings for alphas

I'm never sure wich strings to use as base strings, I don't know if white or the same as the background color...Which/what strings do you use as base strings for alphas? |

Mine tends to vary as to what I do. I tend to sometimes match the pattern's background colour, or I use white or black a lot too for base strings. Sometimes I like to use my my left over string from other bracelets (if they're long enough) and just use different colours so it's almost multicoloured. But honestly it's entirely up to you as to which you go for or what you do. It's more of a personal preference, and there is no right or wrong way. As long as all the base strings are of the same thickness then it doesn't matter as to what colours you go for. |

it depends on the pattern for me! if you're a beginner it can be easier when the base strings are a different color from the leading string. i like to try and use the same color for base strings and for the background. sometimes i don't have enough of the background color so i will just do white base strings in that case!

Hi! I usually cut the same color of base strings for my alpha patterns, as the color for my background. In my opinion, this looks a lot better. You don't have to use any particular color, just whatever you think looks good! If I don't have enough of my background color for base strings, I would usually cut black or white, because they look good with any color, and because I have a lot of each color. Back when I still used embroidery floss i used thinner (cheaper) crochet yarn as base strings.Now I do everything with crochet yarn for everything and try to use the background color as base strings or (when the pattern is really colorful) I use some color that I do not use often and have a lot of. |
