Hi! I was wondering if it was possible to double base strings. by this I mean use two base strings for every individual base string in the pattern. I'd still have the same number of knots, I'd just be making the knot over two strings instead of one. Sorry if this is confusing!

Yes, that would work. Using thicker base strings or doubling them can sometimes help your knots be more of a square shape, instead of a rectangle.

I make all alphas by doubling my base strings now a days! It made them look better. Although, I use Aunt Lydia’s size 10 crochet thread as my doubled bass strings cause it is much cheaper than embroidery floss.

I don't usually double my base strings, though it would definitely work. I would suggest it if you are using size 10 crochet thread because it is super thin, and, in my opinion, makes knots that are way too small. I hope this helps you. Happy knotting! 😄

I don’t personally use double base strings but, if you think your base strings are to thin,

It may be better to double up. Lol I didn’t mean to send my first message. Anyways, do what you think is best, doubling your base strings sounds absolutely fine 😊
