How would I add new strings to the beginning of a row in an alpha pattern? I use the flat alpha technique where you do a forward/backward or backward/forward knot at the beginning and end of a row, but I don't know how to tie on a new color where the first knot of the color is at the beginning of a row without having a string sticking out of the edge of the bracelet.

Hi, when you have a colour switch right at the edge instead of doing a flat alpha colour switch you have to do a regular colour switch.

The technique you are describing is the straight edges technique which can be independently used from the flat alpha technique but is often used in combination with it.

I hope this makes sense 🙂

Just do a forward-backward knot (or backward-forward, depending on the side) of the color you're adding onto the base string
