i know that using different thicknesses of thread in alphas are bad, but how bad? could someone show me some pictures? and does anyone have tips on how to try to make different types of thread look decent on alphas?

in my photo of #12572 the background color was thicker than the black and it messed up the edges and rows. if you look at that compared to my other alpha photos you can see the difference. in my other photos it’s only using the same brand and thicknesses.

Ahh but what if you train yourself to make all your knots the same thickness? Would it still turn out a bit messed up? I buy packs of 6 strings and there all the same brand but idk why they look different.

sometimes my cotton strings become skinnier after pulling on them as I knot, or maybe my polyester strings are just fat. I have learned not to mix the types, but recently I tried adding in a few extra threads to a cotton string part-way through the bracelet to make the strings the same sizes and that worked out well.

I forgot to say that was on a normal bracelet, but it could work with alphas too. It would be really easy to add a few threads to the knotting string; it would be similar to color-switching using the flat-alpha technique except you just keep knotting the new threads into your knots and then after a few knots you add them into the knotting sting and knot with both mixed so it becomes fatter.

Okay, so it is not the worst thing but I recommend not making it too thin or thick than the main color you are using. The bracelet/keychain might turn out wonky or bumpy

you can’t really do different sizes of thread on bracelets because no matter how hard you knots them, they still will come out in different sized knots and make the bracelet not as smooth and nice looking
