Fixing mistakes in patterns

This has happened to me many times and so frustrating. I’ll be making a pattern, it’s coming out great, then I realize a few rows back I used the wrong color for a couple knots. And it’s going to make everything look messed up. I don’t want to untie the rows I just spent an hour on, plus if I did they would get all fuzzy and ripped up. I tried cutting teeny pieces of thread to superglue over them but I can’t cut that small enough of a piece without the piece getting fuzzy or falling apart. Even when I cut a small piece on first and cut after gluing. I could put the string sideways but it would look weird. Has anyone came up with a fix for this? To change the color of knots way up in the pattern without untying the whole thing? Like maybe a better way to glue on the right color, or untying one row vs many rows by cutting somehow? This sounds silly but someone might have a better idea |

I don't think there's much you can do to fix this, but I know it is very frustrating. I would recommend checking the order of your strings after every section of the bracelet if you are segment knotting, or after every row if you are knotting row-by row. But, if you already messed up, you can try swapping out the string that is in the wrong place for a different string that is the right color, sort of like when you do a color change in an alpha. So, for example, if you are trying to make a knot with a green string but there is a pink string there instead, you can move the pink string to the back of the bracelet and attach a green string. This is similar to what Masha Knots did in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR0QALBTLMc (In case you want to search instead of using the link,) The title of her video is: CHANGING COLOURS IN A NORMAL PATTERN [CC] || Friendship Bracelets |

I have two ways I fix this, but they work best on alphas. One, I use fine point Sharpies to color over the wrong knot. This only works if the wrong knot is a lighter color. The second way I believe I picked up from a forum on here. The person took a length of the correct color floss and a needle, threaded it up and over the knot, essentially just sewing a new “knot” over the incorrect one. Once you’ve done that, just tie an overhand knot on the back of the bracelet and you can also add some glue. I had to do that twice on my Hamilton bracelet and you’d never know the difference!

Have you tried cross stitching over the knot? It works for alphas and normals and is pretty much unnoticeable. I would recommend being very careful and not doing this unless you have done embroidery before or are comfortable with a needle.

@zoeyllm I have never cross stitched before. I looked up a how-to but it’s a little confusing. I appreciate the help though.

I tried using a needle to sew over but the needle I had sucked and kinda ripped up the pattern. I got a new needle and it’s looking a little better. I will keep trying. I don’t see a way to upload a picture here
