So i just started on #39615. This is my first shaped bracelet, and I just kinda jumped right into it. Yea, bad idea. I have done about 1 and 1/2 diamonds by now and it doesn't look like any of the pictures on the pattern. Could anyone help me know what to do? I will set a picture of the bracelet as my profile picture. Thank you!

To get the effect you see in the photos you need to use the same technique you would use for triangle ends.

You can however also do it without using this technique. In this case you have to pay attention that you don't pull the loose strings too tight.

MashaKnots has two videos on a shaped pattern, one with the technique, the other without. I recommend checking these videos to see the difference:

hey! feel free to check out my written tutorial on shaped bracelets. you can find it under my profile or under the “tutorials” section on bracelet book. to make the pattern you mentioned above, you should make a triangle start, knot the diamond, make a triangle end, and repeat. you can also just leave the strings loose by just knotting the diamond part, but also being really cognizant of your knot tension. my tutorial focuses on the shaped bracelets technique (where you do triangle starts and ends), but it also talks a little about the other method as well. i hope that helps and feel free to message me or tag me here if you have any more questions! 🙂

@halokiwi do you remember the other day we were talking about segment knotting and triangle ends on normals? is this essentially how you would do it? even on a not shaped normal pattern?

Personally I think triangle ends really benefit the appearance of a bracelet. I think they make it easier to knot at the beginning of a bracelet. So yeah, I'd always start normal bracelets with a shaped start like a triangle end. 😄
