I’ve tried looking this up on YouTube. I have a pattern with 9 threads and I would like to start with a loop, but how on earth do I fit the loose thread into the loop? The YouTube tutorials I found all needed the total to be even but the colors could be uneven - if you know what I mean. I dont think it is possible to change the pattern. Can I not do the loop if I have 9 threads? |

Both Masha Knots and Alex’s Innovations have tutorials for making a loop with an odd number of strings on YouTube I suggest watching those

@amwatson I’ve watched both but they didn’t quite answered my question of what to do with the last thread - add two to one?

Embroidery thread usually consists of 6 strands. You can split it in half so it is only half as thick. You need to cut a string double the length, split it, use it in the loop like you use the other strings but use both halfs as one string after the loop. |

Can you tell me which pattern you are using? I'll try to explain it in more detail.Basically it does not make a difference if the total amount of strings is uneven or if just the strings of one colour are uneven. You can still follow the tutorial. The only thing you need to consider is the shaped start you do after the loop. If you do a triangle start it will be slightly uneven but that is barely noticable. |

@halokiwi it was a pattern I found on Pinterest. I needed three colors and three of each, so I ended up adding two strands to one. Turned out fine. After the loop I just alternated f knot - b knot - f knot and then I started. Since there wasn’t too many strands to begin with I felt there was no need for a v shape, it kind of sorted itself out. 😊

@nickyol What you have to do is get eight of the strings, and start making the loop as you normally would. When you get to the middle of the loop section, add the 9th string in and if you want tie it to one of the original strings to hold it in place, or just rest it there until you have done a few more of the knots for the loop section. this secures it, and unless you pull on that string too hard at the start of the bracelet, it shouldnt come out
