Bumpy alpha patterns?

Whenever I try tying an alpha pattern that has several colors, the edges of the colors tend to contort weirdly and it creates bumps and some areas of color that are elevated from the rest of the bracelet. What am I doing wrong? I've been making sure that I'm tying all the knots with an even pressure and not too tightly, but it doesn't help. :\

Have you tried different techniques for joining the new colour? That may help

@silvercor This is really quite normal because there are layers of your strong underneath that little bumpy section that raise it up. Like when I was making my feather bracelets, there the feather part was a little raised. Concerning the width however, when there are a lot more transitions between colors in a single row, that row tends to be wider, making the bracelet sorta wavy. This can be remedied by doing slightly tighter knots right before a transition. Let me know if that doesn't make sense. I hope this helps!
