I use the straight edges technique but they are not straight. On the top they are thin and then the get thick.

Make sure you’re trying to keep your knot tightness equal, including in color switches.

It sounds like you’re starting w/ tight knots and then loosening them as you go. This took me some practice to get too 🙂

You might also be using string of different thickness

Here's a checklist for you to make sure you are going to get straight edges:-Evenly spaced knots with equal tension -Relatively tight knot -Color switching knots are tight -Knotting strings are all of the same thickness This is what really helped me with my alphas (mind you, I barely make any 😂) |

Have you tried the flat alpha color switch method? Let me know if you'd like me to explain that- when I tried it, my alphas went from 3D messes of knots to an instant flat and smooth finish!
