I know most people measure their string to be the length of their arm span. Also for normal bracelets I’d recommend looking at the pattern and seeing which color you make the most knots with and then cut more of that color. Hope this helps!

I usually cut my strings one meter long (1/8th of a thing of dmc) if it’s the knotting string (the color that shows) for around half the time. If the string is the being knotted onto for most of the pattern I cut it much shorter. I cut it much longer if the string is being knotted with more most or all of the rows. I hope this helps!

I usually cut my strings either 36" long or 72" then fold them in half for normal bracelets. This usually works, and leaves thread for a sliding knot closure too!

I usually cut my strings for normal patterns about 4 feet and then I fold them in half so that they end up being two feet. So yeah! That is about the average length of my strings for normal patterns! Happy knotting!
