I use the straight edges technique. However, the sides still end up somewhat wonky and not completely straight. Is there anything I should be adapting to in order to achieve a straight edge?

When knotting always try to pull the bracelet straight down instead of to the side.

@halokiwi what do you mean by pulling the bracelet down?

Sometimes when you knot you have a tendency to pull the bracelet slightly to the right \ or the left /, instead try to hold it as perpendicular | as possible. <- the lines represent the ways in which you could hold a bracelet while knotting.

Certain patterns will turn out wonky even if u use the straight edges technique. That happens if the pattern is going right and then suddenly goes left or the other way around and it keeps doing that if that makes sense

Hello, @Pris8826! In order to improve the straightness of the edges of your bracelet, watching the tension of the knots at the edges of your pattern really helps. Another suggestion is (when knotting on the outermost string), is to pull the outermost string you are knotting onto, inwards, toward the center of the bracelet, as you are knotting onto it with your leading strand. This helps me a lot while considering the tension of my knots. If the structure of the pattern is the problem, then there is nothing you can really do except for adding the straight edges, which will sometimes not work. Some patterns have weird structures at the edges, and in these situations, bumpy edges are inevitable. 🙁 I really hope this helped you, and happy knotting! 😄

I make my knots slightly loose and use the straight edges technique so that I can pull on the sides a little after making the bracelet to make the whole thing even. This isn't something I've seen anyone do, but it works for me.

Try to make all your knots the same tightness and you can pull on the bracelet (its hard to explain but I just grab both sides where it's warped and pull and wiggle the bracelet). This usually helps make it straighter 🙂
