I have seen a lot of examples of people making combi bracelets: part alpha and part normal. I'm going to attempt one over the weekend. A combi of a fishbone normal (somewhat like #22317 or #61287) and alpha butterfly (#45872) I seems alpha's with the same amount of strings come out wider then normal's. How would you go about solving that? I am doubting about doubling up base strings in te alpha or making the alpha a bit shaped. But since I want to use the two tone techique for the alpha bit, doubling seems unlogic? Any pro tips on this? Or any other tips for this project? Thanks in advance 😊 ❤️ |

So under the tutorials section I made a new techniques tutorial. It includes the part alpha and normal technique but I will explain it to you right now.

Thnx @2006_Mandy I looked at that earlier today indeed. Curious to see what tips you have on top of that. Thanks for taking the time to help me. ❤️

Basically you start out either as a normal or alpha part and knot that section normally. The base strings of the alpha part must be in the order/colours of the strings for the normal section of the pattern. Then when you switch from alpha to normal you get rid of the leading string and knot the normal part like a normal bracelet or if you are switching from normal to alpha you will need to add a leading string and knot onto the base strings which you knotted the normal part with. Does this make any sense? Feel free to ask me any questions. 🙂

Yes that definitely makes sense! Thnx But I am aiming for a nice straight bracelet and the butterfly pattern is already 19 strings wide. And I am affraid the width will be very different. I measured the width (If you take a look at my insta story knotting_addict you can see) and a normal with 19 strings is almost a cm thinner then a 19 string alpha. How would you ga about solving that? |

Ok my best tip is to use the same brand of thread & the same size of thread for the whole bracelet that way the alpha part when you knot it isn't wider as long as the leading string is the exact same size as the base strings.
