Every time I attempt and 1212 pattern , my knotting always comes out messy with gaps! What can I do to correct this ?

You can use the straight edges technique.

It is of the knot tension, some knots you pull them too hard and some of them to soft.

@Hassey Thanks, My Backward knots seem to turn out loser than my other knots. What would be the best way to secure my bracelet as I’m working on it ?

The term 1212 pattern isn't super specific but most people would define it as a normal pattern with mostly or only fb and bf knots. These kinds of patterns have a tendency to be less even. I'm unsure what it is about them exactly but people seem to struggle with bf and fb knots more than they do with f and b knots. In addition to that if a pattern has mostly fb and bf knot you can't really segment knot it. You have to knot it row by row which can also disturb the structure (again I don't really know why that is).

@LunaHorse when you start your bracelet I recommend to tape it down on your desk. (I use duct tape) After you maded a little from the pattern move the bracelet on a clip board. This is when I do normal patterns.

It’s Christmas tree patterns that I’ve been trying! I use the loop start, but how would I go after that, would I use the slope start method ? It’s a mix of all the knots.

@LunaHorse you cut a thin piece of tape about 1cm wide and 4-5cm tall, take the loop and you fold the tape (one end needs to be longer than the other one) and where is the fold of the tape you put the loop, then the shorter end needs to be sticked to the other end, the longer end on the sticky side you tape it down onto the desk and with another piece of tape you tape over the loop and the piece of tape. (hope it makes sence)

@LunaHorse I knew that it will be confusing. It is really hard to explain.

@Hassey are there any videos on how it’s done ? Looked on youtube but found nothing that explains how to take it down. But thanks for trying.

Can you tell me the pattern number if it's a pattern from braceletbook?Personally I mostly make a knot with all of my strings at the start and leave some for the ties. Then I secure it on a clipboard by putting the knot behind the clip. Once I'm a little further I clip the knotted part under the clip. |
