My grandma really likes humming birds, and I was going to make her #62482 as a wall hanging, the only problem is that I’ve never made one. Would that pattern be a good wall hanging, and can you link videos on how to do a wall hanging, also where do I find those stick things you use for wall hangings?

That pattern has a lot of color switches, so if you haven't made an alpha before, it might be a bit tedious and slow going for a while. There's a basic alpha tutorial on every alpha pattern page located right at the top of the generated knot structure diagram.

You can find the mini dowels in different lengths at the craft store or order them on Amazon. Or you can use chopsticks or bamboo BBQ skewers and cut them to your desired length, or even a toothpick.
Here's a couple videos on the following patterns that show how to attach base strings (attaching to keychain is the same process)

#54807
#49522
#21865 (cute macrame ending)

So for odd-numbered strings in alphas like the pattern you chose, you have a couple choices to start: You can either make them an even number and pair the extra string with another, and knot over both of them for a few rows to secure it, then just cut off the extra one. Or you can use the background color as a base string and just attach it the same way as the others (but at the end of the row) and then your leading background string is already attached and ready to start knotting on that side. 😊 Here's a picture tutorial by @PotatoPeel that shows that part really well toward the end:

You can use almost anything for what you attach the base strings on to, even some you might have lying around! Personally I use skewers but, you can use toothpicks, an old pencil, for a more rustic look a stick or twig, (unused) chopsticks, those cute mini cocktail swords, or anything else that is alike those items. Or you can, of course, use wooden dowels that you can find on amazon, most craft stores, and in home improvement stores. Be creative and have fun and I hope your grandma likes your wonderful gift 😊!

It might be a bit hard if you haven’t made an alpha yet because it has a lot of color switches. You can use a toothpick or a wooden stick to knot the base threads on, or you can use a mini dowel, you can find that on Amazon. maybe you can start with a smaller one just to test if you like making alpha’s and just to get used to the color switches. Good luck!
