My alpha circles are ovals

Hey, I’ve recently been working on doing alpha bracelets but my circles are stretched and look more like ovals. Does anyone know how to fix that?

that was happening to me for a while - I make my knots tighter and use a ruler to make sure everything is as tight as possible. I also pull the string i'm making the knot with and the one i'm making it on and I tug hard to make the not more square. That always helps me keep the pattern in-check.
