The two strands twisted together is craft cord, where as the 6-strand thread is embroidery floss. You can find plenty of packages of embroidery floss on amazon, just keep in mind that most of them are going to be polyester blends (for reference, DMC and Anchor are both 100% cotton) so that will have a softer feel to it and might be harder to work with. If you're looking for a place to buy embroidery thread in stores I recommend the Prism threads (a DMC sub-brand) that you can find at Joann fabric and crafts and Michael's. You can find loops and threads embroidery floss at Michaels and Iris embroidery floss at Hobby Lobby. Go to local embroidery shops for anchor and DMC and other fancy brands. I find DMC, Anchor, and Sullivan's six strand floss on www.123stitch.com The Sullivans floss is 100% cotton and only 39 cents a skien plus they have dmc equivalent numbers in the description on the site. I hope this helps lol |

I’ve been using LePoan (bought off Amazon) in DMC colors and I love it! It’s glossy, smooth, and beautiful colors. It does fray a bit on the ends but it hasn’t caused any major issues yet

Personally, I've had that thread snap a lot and its also not the cutest looking in bracelets, I only ever use it for embroidery.

I agree. I pull hard on the strings and when i use those it breaks. It could be a good base string.

i hate that kind of thread too! it's cheap looking and it usually is in like bracelet kits or something. idk what other brands are cheaper than DMC that are still good quality. where i live most of the thread at micheal's is the same price or brand.

I used to use those threads but I didn't like how the knots just didn't look right - they looked numbly and messy - I got some 6 strand embroidery floss off amazon which I loveeeee so much ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ I definitely know what you mean when you say you don't like it. I definitely recommend experimenting tho 🤪

ooh, craft cord gives me anxiety! i made a quite large bracelet with it a long while back, and only after a few times of wearing it, the bracelet snapped in multiple places- if you can, stick to regular 6 strand embroidery floss! it's nicer overall!

I think for a decent quality you could try Mira thread, it’s good but can sometimes snap

I like the 6 strand ones a lot better too. If you want cheap but good quality thread, buy it in big packs on amazon.

My first string was craft cord then I got more into Bracelets and started using embroidery floss...now since I still have some of the craft cord left I use it for my base strings on alphas. My favorite embroidery floss I have used so far is off of amazon by a brand named Caydo and it is pretty nice and my hand get super dry and I get tiny blisters from knotting but with the Caydo floss that doesn't happen as much and it is super cheap for tons of colors. The only down side is that they only have one white skein and one black skein in their rainbow pack and I went through it like crazy but that's it lol.

yep I cant stand that thread! I mainly use Loops and Threads, because it comes in bulk (packages of just white and black, packages of rainbow, etc) but I do have a few random amazon brands and stuff
