SOOO I am making a bookmark (#10849) and since there is a border and i'm using them flat alpha technique the string wraps around the side. I mean since i'm thread the previous color thread through the new not and there is a border it makes the black string wrap on the side if the bookmark and I was wondering how to prevent that.

When you get to the edge do not colour switch with the flat alpha technique you do not want to put the old base string sticking out the side on the edge. place the old string underneath your bracelet and use the new leading string and make whatever knot it is without putting the old string through then make the knot for the next row again and you will be able to colour switch again on the second knot. 🙂

Yep. And don’t colour switch ever on the edge when you are doing the straight edge technique or flat alpha technique

@2006_Mandy you can do a colour switch at the edge when using the straight edges technique.

Yes but then the string is sticking out which is what the person does not want. Whatever technique you use it’s just best not to do a colour switch on the edge to avoid the string sticking out.

@halokiwi but I mean again if you really like the string sticking out then colour switching isn’t a problem. 😊

@2006_Mandy I just saw your reply and wasn't reading what this was actually about 😅 oops. I just know that many people forget a knot when doing straight edges in an alpha and that they are therefore unable to do colour switches.

I guess when doing the straight edges technique (not the flat alpha technique) strings at the edge will stick out less then when doing the edges normally. A solution I used to do was tying the ends of my loose strings together on the backside of the bracelet. But I think if you cut the string very close to the bracelet it also won't stick out.
