so when I do alphas and I have to switch colors one knot towards the edge, the color shows on the edges. I don't really know how to explain this, but does anyone know how to do this without any string showing on the edges.

Are you doing the regular alpha switch at the edge or the flat alpha switch?

If you are switching the string using the flat alpha technique at the edge then the string will poke through. If you do a regular alpha switch at the edge, the colour will not poke through.

@rho321 it’s hard to explain in words but Masha Knots has videos on both techniques

So how would you do this if it were to be a flat alpha?

@GalaxyPig right at the edge you would do the regular colour switch instead of the flat alpha colour switch. MashaKnots also explains that in her video on the flat alpha technique. That video is really helpful!

hi! I just finished #57147 and here's an example with that pattern.
you need to switch from orange to yellow on the edge, so if you were knotting backward knots to the left, here's how it would go:\

you would take the old lead string (orange) and put it next to the last base string you need to knot on. then you bring the new lead string (yellow) OVER the old lead string (orange). now for the straight edge technique, you would do a backward knot over the old lead string but knot onto the last base string, then a forward knot again on the last base string.

by then you could pull the old lead string around to the back of the bracelet like usual.

idk if that helped but Masha Knots has a great tutorial on making flat alpha bracelets that has this technique in it, and I also have a tutorial on my channel 😊
