I'm currently working on a 30 string alpha and I noticed that my first few rows were fairly straight but after that a section on the left side became slanted, so now my rows look almost like the shape of a hockey stick lol. I had this exact problem with the last 30 string alpha I made too. Am I not using the same amount of tension when knotting? Are there any tricks to help maintain straight rows? Thanks!

You should use the flat alpha technique, it made my rows straighter, and if it isn’t, you can just try to push the rows up.

This happens to me too sometimes and I’m not even sure why! Maybe try playing around with your knot tension and make sure it’s consistent from knot to knot. Also if you see a row slanting try to fix it early so it doesn’t become a bigger problem. Sorry I didn’t have an exact answer, cause this still happens to me from time to time, but hopefully this advice helps (:

While you’re making the second half of each knot, you can look at how the placement of the knot looks in comparison to the rest of the row and adjust your tension for that knot accordingly. So if it looks a little lower than the rest of the row, pull a little more. Also make sure you’re using strings of the same thickness

I then always push the knot up with a ruler. Overall, that makes the row straight.
