Giving a warning before deleting patterns

Sometimes a pattern gets deleted after it already got accepted. I think it would be really helpful to give a warning before deleting patterns.My first reason: If the creator knows that the pattern will be deleted they can take a screenshot of it to save it for themselves. If there's a chance to post an improved version of the pattern the person who created it doesn't need to start from zero. My second reason: Maybe there's a good reason why the pattern was posted. Maybe it's an alternative knotting structure for a pattern that previously couldn't be segment knotted but now it can. Other options I think might be good are instead of completely deleting the pattern it just gets hidden so it's still there and can be potentially reactivated if there's a good reason for that but no regular user apart from the creator sees it while it's hidden. Another option to me would be to put the pattern back in the pattern generator as if it was a rejected pattern. This way there's space for improvement and communication. It has happened to me twice that patterns got deleted. One time a pattern was accepted but later someone found it messy. That means I could have improved it if it would have been rejected instead of accepted and then deleted. The other time I made a alternative knotting structure for a pattern that made it able to segment knot it. It got deleted because the knotting structure wasn't taken in consideration. If I had the chance to talk before it was deleted I could have brought that up. What do you think? Did you have similar experiences? Do you think these improvements would be helpful? |

Yep, that happened to me about a week ago. I had a normal pattern that I worked for an hour on and I hit delete by accident 😂 but thankfully I recreated it and now it is up as #35508

I think this would be great. I know that if I made a pattern and someone reported it, that I would want to be able to at least screen shot it before it was taken down.

I also think this is a good idea. People could improve on their pattern instead of it just being taken down. I like it 😊
