You can only make patterns on the website, not the app. Go to your avatar on the top menu bar. There is a drop down option 'Create patterns'. Click on that and it will take you to a page where you can make alpha and normal patterns.

In the normal pattern generator you can enter different types of knots either by writing them down or by clicking the corresponding button. There are forward (f), backward (b), forwardbackward (fb) and backwardforward (bf) knots. You can also leave knots out (0).You write your pattern row by row and divide the individual knots by commas (if you use the buttons the generator automatically puts commas). For the generator to accept a normal pattern there needs to be an even amount of rows. If you have an even amount of strings in the first row you need half the amount of knots and in the second half minus one. If the amount of string is uneven you calculate minus one and divide it by two. That's the amount of knots you need in every row. For me it helps to draw the pattern on a piece of graph paper first to see how the string needs to move and which knots I will need. If you have Instagram or twitter you could send me a picture of your sketch and I can help you figure it out. If you want to do an alpha pattern it's relatively straight forward. You can go to "draw alpha" and just draw it or you can go to "alpha from photo" and it will automatically create a pattern for you. |

I assume it's about creating an alpha pattern because you talk about drawing it but I'm not sure. To be able to submit it you always need to be on the first page of the alpha generator. Before you switch there from "draw alpha" you need to click "save" otherwise your progress will be lost. I can recommend saving a lot in any case normal or alpha so you can see if the knot structure is right and if your pattern looks how you want it to look.
