I'm trying to make a variation of a pattern but every time I try to edit the pattern it tells me generator can't be used no matter what tab I select in the editor. Anyone know how to fix this?

Does it say "sorry, but the knots can't be changed on a pattern created from an existing one"?You can only change the colours, not the knots. Normal generator: Normal: Click on the boxes under "colors used" and change the colours, click "save & test" to apply the changes Interactive normal: Click on the box under "using color", select a new colour, click on the beginnings or the ends of the string you want to change to that colour, click "save" to save the changes. Alpha generator: Alpha: Click on the boxes under "colors used" and change the colours, click "save & test" to apply the changes These are the only three tabs where you can make changes. |

No, when I go over to any of the different edit tabs it just gives me the same message and doesn’t pull up the pattern at all except for the first view page

Are you in the alpha or normal generator? In the ALPHA generator you can only use the FIRST tab. OTHER tabs CAN'T be used to edit the colours for a variation. In the NORMAL generator you can use BOTH tabs. |

I’m in the alpha. The weird thing is I made a few variations yesterday.

What is the message it gives you? Which tab are you on exactly?

“This generator can’t be used on a pattern created from an existing one.” I’m on draw alpha but it gives the message on every tab but the alpha tab

In the ALPHA generator you can only use the FIRST tab. OTHER tabs CAN'T be used to edit the colours for a variation. You CAN'T use "draw alpha" or any of the other tabs except "alpha". "Alpha" is the ONLY tab you CAN use to create variations. |

Even when I tried in there it wouldn’t change color

The reason for that is that in a variation you can only change colours, not knots. If you were to draw knots of a different colour, you would be changing more than just the colours. You would change the look and structure of the pattern.

Did you do the following steps when on the "alpha" tab of the alpha pattern generator?- Click on the boxes under "colors used" - Change the colours - Click "save & test" to apply the changes Clicking "save & test" is necessary to apply the changes. If yes, where does the process fail? Do you get a warning message? |

😅 yeah that worked. I’ve made 9 variations so far. I like how I forgot how to use it.

Are you on the same device as yesterday? Which browser are you using? If this really isn't working, there might be something wrong with either the generator or on your side (your device or browser). If something is wrong on your side, I don't believe that it is your account itself. Logging out and in probably won't solve the issue. I can't imagine how it would. |

I'm glad it worked 😄Please let me know, if somewhere in my replies I've been confusing or could have been more clear. |
